Unless you count merry public drunkenness, there wont be any civil unrest at this years Stonewall Street Festival and Parade in Wilton Manors, which marks the 42nd anniversary of the riots. The parade, absent tear gas and police batons, starts in the morning and wends up Wilton Drive for an hour. At noon, it gives way to an all-out street festival headlined by Tony Award-winning singer Jennifer Holliday and Kevin Avarice, a chart-topping artist from the New York clubland. Two dance arenas will be lorded over by DJs, and there will be on-street bars, beverage trucks, a place for families, and a food court. Organizers expect 30,000 people to show up. Liberation is sweet, aint it?
