Via the wonderful pipes of Maurice White and Philip Bailey, Earth, Wind & Fire has put an indelible stamp on the month of September with its signature song of the same name. Formed in 1969 with a disco/funk focus, the group has been an accolade-garnering powerhouse ever since. Aside from artistic craftsmanship that set EWF apart early on, there has always been a careful balance of positivity and social commentary without admonishment.

Afrocentric musicianship (kalimba, anyone?) filtered through layers of world sounds, funk, and rock 'n' roll have always reflected the passing of time with respect to the passing of trends without ever sacrificing the true nature of the sound.
