A Lake Worth gallery is taking advantage of Independence Day by putting its own brand of “fire works” on display with “Artists Who Play With Fire.” Karen McGovern will use heat and flame to create her metal jewelry, working in such media as copper and sterling silver. Ryan David of Kiss My Glass will torch some hot glass creations. And Norman Glitzen will spark things up with a demonstration about forged metal. And in another great American tradition, proceeds from the sale of McGovern’s jewelry will support a charity, the Rare Species Conservatory Foundation (rarespecies.org). The “fire works” exhibition comes complete with treats: Cake with sparklers, watermelon, and wine and cheese is from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Clay Stone Metal Cooperative Gallery, located at 605 Lake Ave. in downtown Lake Worth. All of the art on display — from clay pots fired in kilns to blown glass — are all works formed in fire and will remain on display. Regular gallery hours are 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Call 561-588-8344, or visit clayglassmetalstone.com.
