Mr. Charles, Currently of Palm Beach is a play about an unabashedly fey talk-show host on a public access channel and his macho, meathead assistant. In 1998, it nearly induced an orgasm for a New York Times reviewer, who called playwright Paul Rudnick a zinger-meister and warned folks that Rudnicks play was so funny that they could suffocate. (Rudnick was the anonymous creative force behind Sister Act.)
