But we’ll stop trying to alarm you now. That’s the job of Countdown to Zero, a documentary by an Academy Award-winning team also involved in An Inconvenient Truth and Inglourious Basterds. They interviewed top world leaders, including former Pakistani P.M. Pervez Musharraf. And the message that comes across is that the only way to avoid a radioactive, cockroach-infested post-apocalypse is to disarm everyone of nukes. The film enjoyed special screenings at the U.N. and Cannes, and now it’s with FLIFF.

Countdown to Zero is being screened at 7 p.m. Thursday at Cinema Paradiso (503 SE Sixth St., Fort Lauderdale). Tickets cost $9 or less. Call 954-525-3456, or visit fliff.com.
