Izzy and the Kesstronics Stir Up Poor House

Much of '50s musical nostalgia and neorockabilly is typically, although perhaps inadvertently, form over function. Not that there's anything wrong with more tattoos than talent and more stage theatrics than technicality — it usually makes for highly entertaining live shows. NYC natives Izzy and the Kesstronics, however, are some top-tier roots musicians.

Fronted by former Wayne Hancock guitarist Izzy Zaidman and rounded out by the well-seasoned, eclectic Kesstronics, the group delivers a unique blend of traditional swing, classic country, bluegrass, and '50s rock 'n' roll. For dedicated rockabilly purists or casual live-music fans, the group's highly energetic live shows deliver good, clean fun for all and definitely don't lack a sense of humor. If you check the itinerary on their current U.S. tour, you'll also see they're the type of band that plays several times in the same city — but not Fort Lauderdale. Poor House hosts the lone opportunity to catch Izzy and company locally.
