Bon Voyage

Between zombies and vampires, the undead have been seeing a trendy resurgence over the past few years. But what about the just plain dead? Sure, some have memorials erected in their honor or entire days dedicated to their memory and good deeds, but they’re usually solemn affairs where an ill-timed giggle will earn you looks of, well, death. Thankfully, some cultures believe that the dead enjoy a good celebration just as much as the living — like the Japanese Buddhists who pay homage to the departed souls of their ancestors with the three-day obon, or bon, festival.
