The Maine

I’m having a Dickens of a time figuring out what would compel this Arizona quintet to give itself such a frosty moniker as the Maine. It’s just like this whole Twilight Saga bullshit about Aryan vampires and Native American werewolves. Like, why the hell does Bella, who’s supposed to hail from sunny Arizona, look like she’s never set foot outside the dampest cellar in Norway? I’ve never read the Twilight books, but I saw the first flick, and I’m confused. OK, so now I’ve paused for a second and Googled why this band calls itself the Maine, and it’s because these Arizonians decided to name themselves after an Ivory song. Whatever.

The Maine blends youthful savvy with what its members may or not remember of the ’90s music scene with a polished pop punk sound that is all the rage among Twilight readers. Which I think is great, especially with the disposable income that bracket wields — and these dudes look like they need a lot of SPF 1000 to keep them going.
