I guess no matter how much you like eating them, there's just no perfect crab experience here in South Florida (unless, of course, it's prefaced by the word stone). For now, this Florida boy will live vicariously through the Maryland-born stories of people like Ridgeway. To be honest, just watching him work is all the crab enjoyment I need.

I'm a Baltimore native and have been to both of these restaurants -- I would opt for Riggins over Rustic Inn any day. The crabs at Rustic Inn were soft & soggy, both inside & out. You couldn't even "snap" them in half. True steamed blue crabs must be steamed in beer and Old Bay...the seasoning is not an "afterthought." And the shells should remain hard after steaming. Not impressed with the "Golden" crabs at all.
