Dub City Derby Girls Get Creamed (Just Not the Way You Think)

At the bar, upon hearing that there was an unique wrestling match going on, one rowdy reporter quipped: "Nobody eats cream corn anymore; they just wrestle in it." Well, not to ruin that journalist's integrity and print his lies, we'll say that the last half of that statement, at least, is true. Because as we might not know the dietary consumption of Palm Beach County's newest flat-track roller derby team, the Dub City Derby Girls, we do know that they will be wrestling in cream corn come Saturday. This feat will go down when "Dub City Derby Girls Present: Everymen, Angry Pudding, Bonnie Riot" at Respectable Street. And they will present them well.

And if the cream-corn wrestling and the local musical acts didn't intensify the night enough, the derby gals will hold a contest searching for their hottest logo-donning fans. So, you may get creative, but make sure to emphasize the sexy as you swirl the black, silver, and red together (those are their colors) to make your outfit/costume. Winners get a prize pack. To boot, burlesque troupe Modernesque Burlesque will also perform, and the necessary nourishment to refuel after all this activity will be provided by traveling-sensations Swanky's Low and Slow Barbecue. It's $8 at the door; proceeds go to support the Dub City Derby Girls as well as a local charity. The event is 21 and up and starts at 9 p.m. at Respectable Street (518 Clematis St., West Palm Beach).
