Craft Services

Quick survey: You see an empty room. Do you: (a) relish the simplicity offered by the spartan space, or (b) imagine just how many sock monkeys can fit on the windowsill and how many bodies will fit cross-legged on the floor for a successful sewing-circle night? If you answered b, you are part of a growing number of crafters taking over South Florida. To see just how much the craft family has bloomed, you’ll want to hit up the annual indie craft bazaar Stitch Rock at Old School Square (51 N. Swinton Ave., Delray Beach) today. In its fourth installment, the homegrown fair boasts 70 vendors (including House of Sweets, Ironforge Press, Ragamufyn, Busy Vee, and more) offering natural bath and body products, DIY fashions, silk-screened posters and T-shirts, home decor, pin-up photography, sweets, paintings, and vintage finds. Each year, the Stitch grows in popularity, with attendees often spilling out of the entrance. That’s why this year, Stitch Rock’s creator Amanda Linton promises more browsing room with indoor and outdoor vendors. Besides the shopping, there will be free swag bags for the first 100 people, door prizes, cupcakes, and a DIY fashion show at 3 p.m. Admission costs $5 and kids get in free. Doors open at noon. Visit rockthestitch.com.
