Fright Night on Las Olas

Halloween isn’t only for young people, but it’s a little odd to show up at someone’s door as an adult, unaccompanied by any kids, holding out a bag and demanding candy in a costume. If you’re looking for a classy way to celebrate as a nonkid, Fright Night, an adult celebrity (pre-)Halloween party on Las Olas Boulevard, is where you ought to be. Its organizers bill it as a place to fulfill that primordial need to “see and be seen,” with local media and celebrities congregating there every year. (Sports Illustrated did a feature on it last year.) This year around, a hot South Florida band, Brandan O’Hara and the Big Bounce Collective, puts on a spiffy little concert while a big Bacardi-sponsored bar doles out drinks. Between sets, popular DJ Adam Foster spins. You get two free cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres from fine restaurants, and a chance to mingle with high society, and all for a good cause: Proceeds benefit the Boys and Girls Club. Leave the staid suit at home: This is a costume party.
