The Haunted Warehouse

Many wouldn’t attend an event after they hear it’s at a warehouse. New Times gets it. Sounds like no AC, very un-yuppie, scary even. Well, the best local indie artists and bands have been rocking out at a warehouse — a Fort Lauderdale locale called the Bubble (another tough thing to explain) — for more than a year now, and have you gone? This warehouse has been transformed into an enriched art/music venue, and perhaps there’s no better time to present yourself somewhere new — than in costume, Friday evening, when Blair Hess presents “Nightmare at the Bubble.” Upon entering, you’ll follow the dark maze through a haunted art house, full of Halloween-inspired art. You’ll then go through the red horror room or straight out to the zombie graveyard out back, where the dance floor couldn’t be more perfect: You’ll be letting loose on gravel, grass, and dirt. And, to boot, a new permanent fixture has been added: A gazillion eyeballs now stare at you while you pee, courtesy of artist Louise Hendry.

Artists displaying works at the Bubble, who also have been circulating in the indie art world of South Florida, include Hendry, Sean Murdock, Blair Hess, Susan Buzzi, Takeshi Kamioka, Parichehr Teimouri, Chris Piller, Erin O’Dea, Derrick Turner, Rachel DeJohn, Tom Rampage, and Lone M.I.B., among others. Music will be provided by Necrophiles, Green Mantles, and VJ Dark Intersection. This Halloween, head on over to the warehouse: Save turning the mansion into a haunted house, well, for Thanksgiving. Entry is ten bucks, but that comes with complimentary drinks and treats. The shindig runs from 5 to 11 p.m. at the Bubble, also known as the IWAN Concept Production Facility, located at 810 NE Fourth Ave. in Fort Lauderdale. Call 954-562-3804.
