More About
Theres a strange fundraiser sponsored by the Lighthouse Center for the Arts in Tequesta. Every guest goes home with a piece of art. But they have to run for it specifically, sprint through the gallery like crazed shoppers on a Black Friday. At this years Fourth Annual Dart for Art Fundraiser, 100 works valued at a total of $100,000 will be on display and then up for grabs as MC and WJTW-FM (100.3) announcer Kathy Greene gets people on their marks, blows a whistle, and sends them careening through the exhibition to claim pieces of art. Attendees get cocktails, dinner, and a work of art as the ultimate party favor for a ticket costing $250. Not bad if you consider that some of the pieces could be worth much more. Theres also a silent auction for various goodies: a weeklong trip to Manhattan, tickets to a Dolphins game, an autographed copy of Alec Baldwins new book, a Neiman Marcus makeup class, a Warholian portrait session, and lots else. Dart for Art is from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Lighthouse Center for the Arts (Gallery Square North, 373 Tequesta Drive, Tequesta). Call 561-746-3101, or visit lighthousearts.org.
