As a genre, Jewish cinema is more about the who than the what. Movies about major-league baseball, senior dating, and a band of musicians fall under the same umbrella as those about Palestinian/Israeli relations and tales of Holocaust survival. And they’re just a portion of the approximately three dozen flicks to hit the screen during the Palm Beach Jewish Film Festival. Now in its 21st year, the festival kicks off Wednesday with the Argentine film Anita, about a Jewish woman with Down syndrome whose world is thrown into disarray after a terrorist bombing in Buenos Aires. Anita roams the city looking for her mother, leaving a lasting impression on the people she meets along the way. The festival runs through December 12 at Regal Delray 18, Movies of Delray, Cobb Downtown 16 and Regal Royal Palm Beach 18. Tickets cost $18 for opening night, $10 for screenings after 5 p.m., and $8 for matinees. Call 561-712-5204, or visit jcconline.com.
