Biking for Babes in Toyland

Americans have marathons for every cause, charity, pet, and ailment known to humankind. But sometimes, like around the holidays, it’s nice to get off your feet and take it easy. And let’s face it, not everyone was born to run — some of us were born to ride! Presented by Seminole Casino Coconut Creek, the 23rd-annual South Florida’s Presidents Council’s “Toys in the Sun Run” is the world’s largest motorcycle parade. On Sunday, more than 30,000 bikers will parade their hogs from Seminole Casino on U.S. 441 beginning at 9:30 a.m. all the way to Markham Park in Sunrise to provide toys and funds to Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital. To ride in the parade, bikers are asked to give a $10 donation and an unwrapped toy or a $20 donation. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m. The parade finishes at 10:30 a.m., and the route will be closed to regular traffic, so guests should arrive at the park before 10 a.m. To see the full route and get more information, visit toysinthesunrun.com or email toysinthesunrun@aol.com. The Seminole Creek Coconut Casino is located at 5550 NW 40th St. in Coconut Creek, and Markham Park is located at 16001 W. State Road 84 in Sunrise.
