Other than perhaps Phil Collins and the business-card industry, no one else benefited more from Mary Harron's film adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis' novel American Psycho than Huey Lewis & the News. We haven't been able to hear "Hip to Be Square" without imagining Christian Bale decimating Jared Leto with a shiny ax in a chic Manhattan high-rise since the movie's release in 2000. 1983's Sports remains the News' defining album, spawning six singles, including "I Want a New Drug" and "If This Is It," and selling more than 7 million copies in the process. The band was the Me Decade's definitive party band, trafficking in good times and heartache with equal measure. Tough like diamonds and rich like cream, stronger and harder than a bad girl's dream, Huey Lewis & the News will always make you smile. Sadly, you will need money or a credit card to ride this train tonight.
