Puppies Are Cuter Than Football Players

You probably know that Superbowl XLV is on February 6 this year. You might even know about Puppy Bowl VII. But we’re willing to bet you haven’t heard about the Dog Bowl. Now in its Vth (that’s ancient Roman for fifth) year, the Dog Bowl is a day of fun at Topeekeegee Yugnee Park for dogs, their humans, and dogless humans who long not to be. Sponsored by Welcome to the Boxer Friends Inc., at the Dog Bowl from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., you’ll be able to enter a $1,000 grand-prize raffle, get your canine a professional massage, or even enter her in the Best Dressed Dog Contest — poor thing. There will also be Canine Good Citizenship certification testing going on so you can prove what a well-mannered pooch you’ve raised as well as information about dog adoptions. The Dog Bowl is free, but admission to the T.Y. Park (3300 N. Park Road, Hollywood) is $1.50 per person over age 6. For more information and to inquire about adopting a rescued boxer, call 954-646-3786, email fran8786@comcast.net, or visit boxerfriends.org. For more information about the AKC Canine Good Citizenship program, visit akc.org.
