Dorkvader: He Is His Father

During the filming of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, they had to keep telling the actors not to make the light saber sounds during the fight scenes. Apparently, Star Wars is so deeply ingrained in our collective psyche that the actors didn’t even realize they were doing it. (Also apparent — actors are dorks. We approve of this.) One man has turned his dorkish obsession with Star Wars into a career. No, not George Lucas. Charles Ross is the man in One Man Star Wars Trilogy. He does the light sabers. He does the opening sequence, the musical score, and every line of dialogue. His hair even tousles in the “winds” of Tatooine. Yes, it is one guy dressed in black alone on an empty stage with no props and no sounds beyond those coming out of his mouth. Yes, it’s OK that you still want to see it. (Dork.) One Man Star Wars Trilogy will be at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre on Saturday. Showtime is 8 p.m., and tickets cost $30. The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is located in a galaxy far, far away at 1001 E. Indiantown Road in Jupiter. Visit jupitertheatre.org, or call 561-743-2666. And live long and prosper — wait, that’s wrong... 8pm
Sat., Feb. 5, 8 p.m., 2011
