Ask anybody: Love is an inspiring experience. The Illustration Club of the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale has put together its first show, “Bleeding Hearts,” a love-inspired collection of works by students, faculty, and alumni. Totally free, the artists’ interpretations of love varies in medium and in theme — in one piece, creatures spew rainbows from their mouths as one in the middle commands: “Eat Ur Heart Out.” In another, Lady Gaga’s heart-shaped wound seeps onto a mound of other hearts. All of the artwork is bold and memorable, perfect for the premiere of these talents as a group. There will be at least 50 pieces on display and available for purchase, with a portion of the costs providing support for the Illustration Club. On view at the Southport Shopping Center (1303 SE 17th St., Ste. 1491, Fort Lauderdale), the show is supported by Southport’s parent collective, Woolbright Development, a real estate services company specializing in the redevelopment and management of shopping centers in Florida. With this exhibit, the idea it to focus on community initiatives and tenant sales — and the union of art and community support is certainly another kind of love. The free show is from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. Call 954-765-4466.
