Magicianry, while being a noble profession and all, isn’t really, well, sexy. Yeah, we’ve seen the illusionist Criss Angel. No, he hasn’t helped the cause. Hell, we’re not even sure if magicianry is a legit word, even though it works for carpentry and wizardry. But regardless of all this, everyone likes to see something other than his cash disappear once in a while, so it’s obvious why magicians and casinos have formed a symbiotic relationship of sorts. Seminole Casino Coconut Creek (5550 NW 40th St., Coconut Creek) has declared February to be “Magic Month” (please note that this is not a nationally recognized celebration, but feel free to start an online petition or something). The month is a free-for-all, and by that we mean that literally everything is free. You can check out the “Stars of Magic”Andrew Mayne, Brian Brushwood, Jamie Porter, and Chad Lon — starting every hour from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m Sunday through Friday evening outside the Nectar Lounge in the Players Club Atrium. Saturdays are reserved for “In Your Face Close Up Magic.” Jack Maxwell, Sam Rubman, and One Nite Stan will be interacting with patrons on the casino floor or in restaurants or lounges as they perform magic throughout from 2 to 10 p.m. every Saturday for free. But if you prefer the old-school days of death-defying magicianry, Houdini’s old wares are on loan and on display. Visit seminolecoconutcreekcasino.com. Kyriaki Tsaganis
