Arti Party

Hold on to your beaded necklaces: It’s time for the 26th-annual Arti Gras Fine Arts Festival. The much-celebrated blowout will gather more than 150,000 art fanatics in Abacoa Town Center this Saturday through Monday, but unlike that other “gras,” don’t expect to find drunken dudes coercing women into disrobing for mere baubles. Instead, this family-friendly exposition will showcase more than 250 artists working with every medium imaginable, from (legit) jewelry to digital art and printmaking. Take a stroll down Central Boulevard and peruse the dozens of booths there, or hit up the demonstration stage, where artists will give you a firsthand look at their crafty goods. The kiddies will dig the ArtiKids area, where they can tag their very own wall or build a miniature town out of recycled boxes. Meanwhile, adults can quench their thirst for Bourbon Street-like libations at the Buzz 103.1 Beer Garden (live music included — undulating balcony dancers are not). It all starts at 10 a.m. Friday. Tickets cost $6 in advance, $10 at the gate. Visit artigras.org.
Sat., Feb. 19; Sun., Feb. 20, 2011
