Every year gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, and queer people converge on Miami Beach to celebrate their fabulousness. This year, Winter Party 2011 goes out of its way to celebrate diversity in people as well events. Of course there are going to be massive parties and electric DJs, but there are also events geared toward our more refined sensibilities, such as culture, cocktails, and shopping. It wouldn’t be a gay old time without plenty of poolside parties, and “Hell & Heaven at the Pool” at the Doubletree Surfcomber (1717 Collins Ave., Miami Beach) on Friday and the “Under One Sun Pool Party” on Saturday, also at the Doubletree, are definitely places to show off your oil-slicked abs. Women can let their hair down at the Official Winter Party Women’s Signature event, “Industry,” where DJ Lisa Pittman will man the wheels of steel on Saturday night at Club O1 (1 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach). Pittman is a resident at Tao Nightclub in Vegas — the number-one-rated nightclub in the world. Two signature events are not to be missed: The “Winter Party Beach Party” at 12th Street and Ocean Drive at Lummus Park in South Beach is expected to have more than 5,000 glistening bodies dancing to the beatific beats of DJs Alyson Calagna and Charlmix on Sunday. The other must-experience event is “Boiling Point: Carnival” at the Cameo Theater (1445 Washington Ave., Miami Beach), which will be transformed into a Brazilian-style carnival party on Sunday night. Mix it up by hitting the “Cyrano Film Retrospective” at Miami Beach Cinematheque (1130 Washington Ave., Miami Beach) on Friday and “LGBTheology on Tap” at the Van Dyke Café (846 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach) on Saturday, when one of the country’s leading theologians discusses the possibility that Jesus was gay. whoever wrote this article is def going to hell!!! Oh well he or she is going to join many celebs there. Enjoy your time in 1000000000000000000000 heat without any exit.
