Circus Playhouse for Adults
True born-and-raised Floridians probably remember Circus Playhouse in Hollywood. Long gone now, it was a progenitor of the ubiquitous Chuck E. Cheese but so much better. Lionel the Lion played ringmaster to a cast of animatronic animal friends. Nothing like watching an enormous gray hippo in her tiny pink tutu as you gorge down school-lunch-styled pizza while pumping tokens into the skee ball machine. Anyone who shares such memories is not only a Florida lifer but way past childhood. Luckily, Dave & Buster’s (3000 Oakwood Blvd., Hollywood) caters to overgrown children who love arcades — just with more alcohol and fewer children. On Tuesday, Dave & Buster’s and the Hollywood Gazette will soothe your Peter Pan complex and your conscience by allowing you to “Party With a Purpose.” From 5:30 to 7 p.m., your $10 donation to the Art and Culture Center of Hollywood will get you free hors d’oeuvres, half-priced cocktails, door prizes, and more.
