A Must-See

There are children in Northern Uganda who are surviving in a war where they’re forced to act as baby soldiers. So, Thursday, instead of chowing down on a deep-fried heart attack while watching the most recent (and ridiculous) episode of Survivor: Some Island That’s Not Actually Deserted, head on over to Revolution (100 SW Third Ave., Fort Lauderdale) to inform yourself. You better not sit at home on your ass, with your arm elbow-deep in a megasized bag of Frito’s... especially since this event to raise awareness is free.

The three young filmmakers who eventually formed the nonprofit Invisible Children Inc. could have been like any one of us before they traveled to Uganda and found themselves staring at child soldiers, but who are we to presume? Now, millions of people across the globe are learning of these children’s plights through the completed documentary Tony.

The film will be screened at 7 p.m. Besides giveaways the entire night, local artists will exhibit, and there will be live music afterward by local bands Alexander and New City Lions. The film itself lasts 35 minutes. The whole event is free, but if that’s not enough, the first 100 people get free dinner from the Whole Enchilada! Visit invisiblechildren.com.
