Combining traditional techniques with punk-rock aesthetics, the indie craft fair phenomenon is rapidly sweeping the nation — and local crafty gurus have been working hard putting South Florida on the handmade map. Joining the brigade is indie collective Hollywood Craft Mafia, which is putting on its second-annual “Odd Duck Bazaar.”The ladies are expecting a bigger and better turnout, indicating that, in addition to 80 vendors, they’ve got a slew of tricks up their hand-sewn sleeves. Inside the historic Old Davie School, various crafty artisans — including Danny Brito, Rachel DeJohn of Peace Owl, and Carey Borden of C.A.B. Fayre — will charm fairgoers with their never-ending talent. Once the buying is done (those artists’ skills basically guarantee that nobody will leave empty-handed), shoppers can head outside to take part in DIY demos, listen to live local music, and satisfy their hunger at the Friki Tiki food court. The crafternoon fun begins at noon on Saturday at Davie’s Old Schoolhouse Museum (6650 Griffin Road, Davie) with an entry fee of $5 for adults and free for children under 12. Visit oddduckbazaar.com.
