Looking Good, Being Bad

The Beautiful Villains Fashion Show won’t be one for a starving audience. Rather, fashion designer Lorie Lester will be using her friends and family, people of all shapes and sizes, to showcase her 2011 summer line. The crowd will be able to fully enjoy her ’70s-inspired fabrics and silhouettes on bodies that look more like theirs than a 12-year-old girl’s.

Lester is a Miami-born and -bred 27-year-old who not only designs her own clothing but owns her own shop near the Design District. Women can come in and have their garb tailored to show off their best ass-ets (it is South Florida, after all). Besides bright colors, the human models will be sashaying fun cuts down the runway. Expect to see some bare backs, interestingly placed cutouts, and, for the young and thin, high-waisted skirts paired with crop tops. The Beautiful Villains event will take place on Thursday and include live rock ’n’ roll by the Jacuzzi Boys, cheesy treats by Ms. Cheezious, intense cocktails by Zignum Mezcal and Coruba rum, and for your inner teenaged girl, a miniramp skateboarding contest. Doors open at 10 p.m. at the Stage (170 NE 38th St., Miami). It’s free and open to the public. Contact 305-576-9577.
Thu., April 28, 10 p.m., 2011
