Once upon a time, an unusual German boy named Hansel fell in love with a U.S. soldier. However, East Germanys Communist shackles kept them apart. In order to flee, the two would have to marry as man and woman, so Hansel underwent surgery and took over his mother Hedwigs identity. Unfortunately, the surgery didnt go as planned, and Luther eventually left Hedwig malformed and heartbroken. Now, recovered from the breakup, she went on to assemble a rock band comprised of Korean-born Army wives, and thus Hedwig and the Angry Inch was formed.
