You’re My Hero

A long, long time away, in a steamy galaxy right here, burlesque troupes were rare. Now, clans of sexually charged dancers take to territories like pasties to nipples. We have a new phenomenon on our hands, and it’s going to be known as resident-burlesque troupes. Have the Glamour Goddesses set up stage at Stage 84? On the Sunday night before Memorial Day, the Goddesses honored our soldiers with an “All American Reveal: A Special Memorial Day Burlesque Tribute” — a little red, white, and boob. Now this Sunday, the Goddesses are back with “Fantastic Four: A Burlesque Celebration of Female Superheroes.” But, by keeping this only to female superheroes, they’re missing some opportunities here. What we get is the Invisible Women?! Come on, Mr. Fantastic? He can stretch his body into incredible positions. He can bend and twist; it’s all incredible stuff there, if you’re a female. The Human Torch? That just sounds hot. OK, we are glad they’re not doing Thing. His stone-flesh being a side-effect of his superpowers is not sexy — his grumpy demeanor makes that worse. Audience members are invited to dress as their favorite superhero or villain — no word on interactive play, still leaving cosplay only for the anime geeks. Tickets cost $5 when you buy early, $10 at the door ($7 with a military ID). Doors open at 7 p.m. — good versus good kicks off at 8 at Stage 84 (9118 W. State Road 84, Plantation). Call 954-474-5040, or visit stage84fl.com. Visit theglamourgoddesses.com for a preview.
