Historically, the jet set were people of great wealth who used their exceptional financial resources to fly around in airplanes -- something the general public at the time could not afford to do -- indulging in decadent activities together. Today, flights are often cheaper than Greyhound bus tickets, and, more important, we still don't need lots of money to have exotic and interesting social experiences -- because we are all rich in imagination.
