How to prepare you without scaring you off -- that is the question. Think of Key West's Fantasy Fest, where tons of folks are half-naked, drinking, having a merry time. There, everything goes. You sign up to see some skin, to see some wild activity, people all over one another. You sign up for being in the middle of decadence. Now, picture Fantasy Fest vampire-themed and it being a much more intimate affair that's inside the posh bar that's inside a bank on the corner of North Federal Highway and Oakland Park Boulevard. No, no one will be showing their tits for beads. But some will be barely dressed: black tape over nipples, cone bras, tight corsets, vinyl panties. This is the Endless Night Vampire Ball of Florida 2011, put on by Sabretooth, Endless Night & the Abusement Park Family, at Sky Nightclub (3101 N. Federal Highway, Fort Lauderdale) on Saturday. It's a private event, so things you wouldn't typically see on Duval Street because of that awful indecent-exposure law you'll get to see here. Fuck all laws, here.

Just head there in costume (this is a must): Making a vampire ensemble is not hard these days. You can dress as royalty, freaky clowns, wear whatever you want -- but it should represent the characteristics of a vampire: mysterious, sensual, decadent, chivalrous, narcissistic. Besides dancing, drinking, and hanging around, there will be burlesque shows and erotic and dark performances, vendors. The VIP package gives you interesting meet and greets like the one with one of the hosts, the Sanguinarium movement founder Father Sebastiaan: Friday is the preparty at the Green Room in downtown Fort Lauderdale.
