Your Fix of Whimsy
Tra-la-la! You need whimsy in your life. Everyone does. At the 1310 Gallery in Fort Lauderdale, they've got you covered with a new exhibit of playful art pieces -- like, for example, a five-foot-tall hamburger. But be warned: A few of the pieces are about as whimsical as tattered, blood-stained dolls in the attic of an abandoned mansion. Florida native Benjamin Morey has contributed a painting of two reptilian, Pepto Bismol-pink hands that look like they might be those of the clown from It after he's stripped off his white gloves. Morey says, "Growing up amongst Disney automatons and retirement communities... [drove] me to create reflections of illogicality."
