Despite the teenage/very early 20s circles in which they are most popular, the San Diego foursome Pierce the Veil actually boasts a history dating back to the late '90s. It was then that the brothers Fuentes — lead vocalist/guitarist Vic and drummer Mike — began the first iteration of the band while they were still young teenagers. Since then, though, trends in posthardcore have changed almost as frequently as the band's lineup. That leaves the Fuentes brothers as the only original members in a band whose sound swoops — even within individual songs — between helium-propelled pop-prog and death metalish breakdowns. That kind of unabashed scene crowd-pleasing, plus sheer longevity, has made Pierce the Veil a repeated favorite on outings like the Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos. This time around, they lead their own headlining tour backed up by a host of similarly minded acts, at least one with a name that also forms a grammatically complete sentence.
