New Times recently wrote a feature on nudism -- naturism (read it!). And like the good pub that we are, we now provide the info for you to attend such an event. You may dig nudism in theory. But tinkering with the idea of hitting up the FYN Winter Gathering 2011 brings it to a whole 'nother level, now doesn't it? FYN stands for Florida Young Naturists. They're a group of young humans who embrace living life naked. And we mean young: 18- to 30-year-olds. Where does this clothesless event take place? Sunsport Gardens, a family naturist resort (14125 N. Road, Loxahatchee Groves). If you are aged 18 to 30, you can camp there for the weekend, if you want. The 40 acres feature RV hookups and pool tables, tennis courts, a heated swimming pool, a library, a café, a fitness center, and Wi-Fi. There are trails where one can frolic. If it gets under 70 degrees, one may put on some clothing to stay warm. Things like sarongs are allowed at all temperatures -- but not in all areas. What takes place? Beat drums in a circle around the bonfire. Absorb live music provided by bands, who might be nude. Do yoga. Dance. Nature-trail it up. Swim. Use the hot tub. After all, it is winter. No genitalia may touch anything, so bring a towel to sit on. The fest is Friday to Sunday. Check floridayoungnaturists.com for prices on becoming a member or how to score a day pass.
