This place outright sucks......Food so so, at best, service terrible at best, and way too much hype for nothing, but to hang around a bunch of people that think they are all that. Don't waste your time.

Terrible food and service..Who cares if the place is crowded now? It won't be in 3 months when the doors shut...the "bar crowd" is very finicky and will leave your "cool for now" scene quicker than when they found it.

Been there three times and each time the service was terrible and the food was awful. The writer is dead on when he says the bartenders ignore you and talk among themselves. They text on their phones and ignore customers. The chicken wings were so undercooked that they were bloody. Not wanting Salmonelo (sp?) poisoning I sent them back to an unconcerned bartender only to find the "chef" had only re-dropped them in the oil with the sauce on them instead of making me a new batch. When they returned they were awful and I told the Bartender again, who just kinda laughed and shrugged it off. I wanted to punch him in the neck. No one took them off my bill, and me being frustrated and just wanting to leave at this point, I paid for them just to get the hell out of there...
Upon another visit they were out of Bud Light! Who runs out of Bud light? Not to mention they were out of many other beers as well. For a place that fancies themselves as having so many different varieties on tap, you'll be lucky to find a handful actually in stock. The service is so bad I will never go back and discourage anyone else from doing so. I meet with a networking group of anywhere from 30-40 people once a week and every time this place comes up as a possible venue someone will undoubtedly shoot it down because they have had a similar experience there.
Save yourself from the bad, overpriced food and beer and terrible service and go somewhere else! There's too many good bars in Ft. Lauderdale to waste your good money and energy here!

As a visitor from Colorado where craft beer joints inhabit most crannies of the state, and having checked out a lot of them, it's interesting to see a common problem exsists. Yes craft local beer and they will come but...........

Was there Thursday night, There was a huge private party going on, but the manager provided our group of a bout 12 people with a table and benches in the corner. We didn't get around to ordering food, just drinks. Our service was great. Our drinks were served right away and I even got a free refill on my coke. Would definitely go back to eat there.

I went there once in December 2011... the beer selection was awesome and over priced. The food was bad and very over priced. The service was average. Neither myself or my date planned to return as just about anywhere else offered much better value. And we eat out every day.

I really like this place. Myself and friends are young professionals who have been in Lauderdale for several years. Place is a dash pricey but the food was actually quite good and the beer selection was on point. Try the vanilla porter! -Omar

Been to Tap this weekend. Thought it was totally cool. Great place. Definitely the hottest place around. Food was really good. Bartenders very helpful. Will be back with more people this weekend. Keep up the good work!!

I have been there twice now--and only a second time to give it another chance. A female bartender that our group delt with smacked lip gloss on in front of our faces while messing with her face and rolling her eyes when trying to charge us for something that the other bartender quoted "We dont charge for that, no restaurant does!". The bar MANAGER was the rudest & most un-hospitible person I have ever delt with in my ENTIRE life. Nice venue, O.K. food, AWFUL service. I NEVER comment on blogs or articles...but this is something people need to know about how paying guests are treated here.

WOW---you people are sooooooo jealous of this place!!! Its the coolest best place in town--thats why its packed. New Times has a hard on for this place cause they are buddies with another restaurant in town. Cheap shots. You people go hang out in some sleazy bar like Melissa McCart does--saw her at Bimini Bay watching XXX hardcore porn videos the other nite. And she reviews restaurants?? Interesting that the comments seem consistent regarding food quality and service. I had a similar experience as well. Unfortunately, we couldn't find our waitress when leaving and 60 seconds after we left the credit card receipt and cash tip in the black folder, she was tracking us down for the bill. It was stolen from our table that fast so we had to pay her another $20 tip as a result. (Our table was even the closest to the hostest stand.) Most disappointing part was I pointed it out to management the next day. Their only response: "that happens everywhere". Never happened to me before, except at Tap 42.

I visited this place for the first time this week and I left with a not too impressed taste in my mouth. We ordered the skirt steak salad and the drunken goat burger. The burger was great as were the fries, however, the skirt steak had a weird taste and although ok, I woulnd't have it again, ever.
Overall, the place is pretty nice, and they have a great beer selection. However, the quality of the food is decent but not first rate, and the prices are high...this place is too overpriced for my taste. . I won't go back anytime soon.

i work at the Tap, actually some nights on the grill, and some nights working and trouble shooting the floor, i really enjoy it, just have to make sure on which nights i wear a Chef coat or a Sport Coat, we had such great feed-back from everyone this weekend, it is a fun place, that gets really, really {and i mean packed}but everyone is having fun...come on in, make up your own mind, My good friend Mellisa McCart, who wrote this article, had some valid points, which we have, and are fixing...come on in, ask for me, and i will make sure you are welcomed, and have a groovy time!! thanks,,,

Do you think we don't know why our food or drinks are late when every square inch of floor space is packed with endless hotties? You pick at the service like it's the story while ignoring the best looking crowd in town - or more likely they were ignoring you?

I read your review and decided to check it out friday nite with some friends. The place was absolutely packed. 2 hour wait for a table. We just had drinks at the bar. Service was very good and there were ALOT of hot looking girls there. People we talked to said food was great and service was very good. Your review doesnt seem to accurate.

I went there with a friend a few Wednesday nights ago. I ordered a a burger medium. it came out rare in middle. Jason the waiter took it back and kitchen making a new one. 20 min later, 2nd burger came out. Only one half was medium, one half was medium well!!
It's like they didn't have all burners at same temperature. Staff seemed more interested in picking up dates (guests), texting, on their phones, or talking among themselves.
As an owner, you can't taste ur own menu? Idiot. I give you less than a year before folding up, unless you correct issues.

I went three times for work. Then I attended three holiday parties there. And it was the bar of choice for friends' happy hours. A series of visits were by default. It's a great place that needs work. I hope your experience is tighter than mine.

Nice afternoon lunch atmosphere on the patio. I stop by on my way from Snyder Lake with our Lab Monte who also loves the place. The food is always scrumptious and filling, the beers are an adventure in themselves.

I worked at World of Beers this summer and i can tell you craft beers cost anywhere from 2 to 4 times what a keg of bud costs. and the price per keg keeps rising from the distributer, cause his material prices rise as commodity prices rise. so the bars pass on the increase just like every other business. Anyway, thought Tap was really cool. didnt have any issues with service, but even if they do have problems, it takes time to work them out. We still received complaints all the time from customers at WOB and we didnt even serve food!!! good luck to them

Been here 2 times good service and excellent food both times the Burgers may just be the best in town however beer prices may keep me away. I have been a Craft Beer Geek for years and have steadily watched the price climb as popularity has grown. The cost of craft beer to these establishments is higher than bud or miller but the mark up is beginning to rival the markup on wine - just because of its increase in popularity. I understand that you pay more for a better product but why gouge? I’ve seen price increases of $1- $2 dollars for a draft at World of Beer also. Ultimately they will price themselves out of range for the average guy to enjoy on a regular basis

Went last night for the second time. it was busy, but in large part because they seemed to have one big group on the patio. The service was fine, and the waitress was sweet and helpful...but, they were out of the drink I wanted, the chicken wings were way undercooked - pink meat, and my burger, ordered medium first came out rare (not even medium rare) and when they brought it back had whatever sauce that I specifically requested it not have.

I'm bummed to read this, Melissa. Checking out Tap was on my to-do list, but now I may wait it out to see if the service improves. I'd definitely get in touch with Chef Ted ahead of time if I do go (to make sure he's there). He's consistently awesome and the main reason I was considering a visit in the first place!

As I said, I really like the place and really want it to succeed and was very willing to give the place time to iron out the flaws. I have owned many businesses and know it takes time to improve. Here, sadly, improvement does not seem to be happening. It is true it is easy to complain, and if the place was cheap there would be little room for complaint. I have no problem paying higher prices for nice beer and food. The problem comes when you are totally ignored when you need service. I will try it from time to time to see if things improve but for now I will stick to the tried and tested.

On our last few visits, the manager, hostess and servers stood by the door as we left and never inturrupted their conversation to thank us for coming or ask how our meal was. Yes, we DO want this place to succeed, but after too many bad ecperiences with the uncaring, self-absorbed staff we have decided to spend our money somewhere else, where we feel appreciated and welcome...

People complain about everything!! last time i was there i heard the people next to me say they were gunna complain just to see if the manager would comp some things on the check-- i have dealt with jerks like that for years!! Kudos to anyone with the balls to open a restaurant....keep rockin !!!

just got back from tap tonite with a bunch of friends who wanted to check this place out. we were really impressed by the whole look. very cool, very hip. thought the food was really good. burgers were fantastic. read about the complaints with service, not sure what thats all about. had a great time.

I applied for a job there when they opened and the woman interviewing everyone {apparently the manager, which I'm willing to bet the farm she has never worked in a restaurant before) was more worried about how many of your friends on facebook you were going to bring in as opposed to your experience in the industry. I listened to her interview about 15 people before me and it was quite humorous. I have hosted or co-hosted dozens of beer and whiskey tastings over the years and participated in more than I can begin to count and started bartending more than 20 years ago to boot, but it was like talking to a bag of wet mice. It's a nice place but the beer and whiskey prices are joke and the service is leaves much to be desired, a direct reflection of the management. It's too bad because I like going to the joint. I hope they figure it out.

I am a big burger fan so me and my girl decided to check this place out after reading your article. I had the prohibition burger which was delicious. My girl had the mac & cheese and the meat board. Both were really good. We didnt have any problem with service, in fact our waitress was very nice. The place was really crowded. Alot of nice looking people there. Loved the beer selection. We will be bringing friends back this weekend to sample beers and eat more burgers.

just checked out this place tonite. it was packed. thought the food and service was really good. great outdoor patio and definitely the best decor around. nice not have to go to las olas or 2nd street. without a doubt the best place i have been to in quite awhile.

This review is right on! The burgers are good, beer is good if you can get one and if you can get what you ordered. The rest of the food is weird and not very good. The service is the worst I have experienced in Ft. Lauderdale in that you wait forever to be waited on and they take forever to come back. If you want to make money, keep my damn beer glass filled! This place needs a Coach to take charge of the staff and kick some butt. Until then, I'll stay away.

I have only sat at the bar thus far, as there, one can sample the beers.
I will say that the Mahi Club may be the best Mahi sandwich I have ever had, but how could it not be with two kinds of pork adorning it.
Pork Belly was served undercooked (a crime) and the clams casino were great but hardly a hardy tasting considering the size of the clams. I know the smaller ones are better.
I will return for more beers and bourbon and to try the burger, but probably remain at the bar given your service troubles at the tables.

i must admit my service was somewhat slow, but with the amount of people in the restaurant, it was understandable. The food has always been top notch, i think i have tried every burger, and really enjoyed them all. My salami wrapped breadsticks were delicious, it was the correct blend of herbs and cheese!! Also the skirt steak salad was full of flavor, perfectly cooked, seasoned and sliced. I still recommend this place, and i will be back!!

I've been wanting to give this place a try since before they opened when I saw their booth at NewTimes Beerfest. I've had a lot going on since they initially opened but now every time I think about going there I immediately change my mind and go to one of my regular favorites because of friends non-recommendations and now this article reconfirming their thoughts. Once I start hearing good things again, perhaps my mind will change.

I could not have put it better myself....I was so pleased to see something different and vibrant but , of my twenty or so visits, the service has been a joke. Waiting twenty minutes for a beer in a pub is inexcusable. There are plenty of staff who seem to just think that because it is so busy they do not need to try to please the clientele. Needs some guidance and hiring and firing to weed out the complacent.
My last visit was on a friday night when myself and friends go to drink and eat.To our surprise all the large outside tables were reserved for a birthday party and we were told that we could not even stand near them while they were still empty. After an hour and a half and only two beers we left to drink and grab a bite somewhere more customer friendly. At that point we were asked if we would like to sit at the table next to us as the party was not going to use it !
Too late......it took me ten minutes to pay my bill and I was pretty fed up by then.
I really like the concept and the atmosphere of Tap 42 but three strikes and you are out.

We went there this past Sunday after church with a group of 5 and sat outside. We ordered our round of beers then waited. We were almost done before the waiter was back to take our order and that was only because one of us had to flag him down to get him to come back oner. He even told us to wait so he could clear of another empty table before he would take our order. Not only did the waiter have no idea of the beer menu and the 4 beers in a row that one person ordered that were all out (we were almost done with the second round by the time they got a beer and another person just cancelled theirs), but he had no idea of the lunch menu which is only about 10 items (he had to come back to the table and ask to see a menu and take it with him to clarify the "Three Little Piggy" which they advertise on Twitter). It seems like the servers are either standing still or running to try and make up for that lost time. No idea how it wil last past the initial honeymoon phase without some serious customer service training. At least the lunch menu was simple enough not to screw up our food and it all tasted quite good...
