If you're pushing through those 20s or maybe into your early 30s, obviously you're not looking to join a knitting circle or a shuffleboard league yet. But, yeah, it's time to put away some childish things and walk among the adults. You're calling yourself a professional now. You should meet like-minded individuals -- people calling themselves professionals as well -- and leave the buddy who sits at the bar 24 hours a day right there, at the bar all day. If you'd like to test these new social waters, a casual Meet and Greet with Emerge Broward is just the thing to do this Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Chima Brazilian Steakhouse (2400 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale). Emerge Broward is a group of young professionals, age 21 to 35. The clan "promotes leadership and personal development through networking, community involvement, and educational opportunities." Translated, that means you get to attend fun social events in chic locations, and with more than 500 registered members, you're bound to make some new friends. And most likely they enjoy drinking cocktails too. The event is free for current EB members, $10 for nonmembers, or you can pay $25 and get a year membership.
