Fleet Week arrived in SoFla 25 years ago, becoming a Fort Lauderdale tradition at precisely the moment spring break ceased to be one. (Sailors, as it turns out, are a lot more amiable than beer-crazy frosh.) This year, we’ve got six vessels in port and thousands of sailors taking in the local grub, suds, and sun. Nowhere will they gather in greater numbers than at the “All Hands on Deck” kickoff party at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Across the complex, from 6 to 10 p.m., Hard Rock is offering booze and food specials in honor of the troops. The Navy “Pride” band will gig; Hooters is hosting a swimsuit competition, and at 9 p.m., there will be a fireworks show. Admission’s free, the booze is cheap, and the sailors need a good time.
