Humans do a lot of things that, if you think about them too much, are downright inexplicable. Wine is delightful, but who figured out that rotten grape juice could do that? Who was the first guy to set something on fire, stick it in his mouth, and inhale? And seriously, when did someone scoop some mud out of the ground and decide, "I'm going to make a human face out of this"? Clay is a mind-boggling medium when you think of it that way, and yet, it can be molded into shapes both beautiful and useful. The Clay Art South Florida Invitational Juried Exhibition at the Anne Kolb Nature Center will set these earthen creations out for your delectation. The clay artwork - including sculptures, functional wares, wall hangings, and kinetics - was carefully selected from 20 area artists. Art lovers can peruse the exhibit daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the exhibit will remain on display through Friday, June 29. Admission is only $1.
