For most Americans, cricket will forever remain an anomaly. Two guys are batting while the other team is “bowling,” and somebody is taking aim at the wicket. Huh? For those under the reign of the Queen Mum, however, the bat-and-ball game sits behind only footie in popularity. Accordingly, we suspect the fish and chips to be flying off the shelves at Central Broward Regional Park during the Digicel 2012 West Indies Versus New Zealand Cricket Series. Taking place today through Sunday, this international event is expected to draw 16,000 people. Hopefully, Broward County organizers will have enough HP and curry sauce to satisfy fans of the Black Caps (nickname for New Zealand's team) and the Windies (West Indies' moniker). Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at Central Broward Regional Park's stadium box office. The Cricket Series is hosted by the West Indies Cricket Board and supported by the Friends of Central Broward County Park Inc., a nonprofit organization formed to promote and bring economic development to Central Broward.
