With a shock of scarlet hair and a chalky complexion that borders on the paranormal, pianist Lynne Arriale is a compelling presence onstage — a specter possessed by jazz. Closing her eyes as her fingers dance across the keys, Arriale is consumed by a passion for the classics and originals she has been performing in front of audiences since the early 1990s. (She’s been tinkling the ivories since age 3.) The prolific bandleader has released 13 albums over the past 18 years, and her latest release, aptly titled Solo, is her first unaccompanied album of piano compositions. Her appearance Saturday at the Arts Garage is another feather in the cap of the Pineapple Grove arts center, which has emerged as a haven for authentic jazz. For the first time, the Arts Garage will offer an audience talk-back before the concert, with Arriale offering insights into her performance and songcraft. The venue’s jazz concerts almost always sell out, so get your tickets early. Tickets cost $20 to $35, and Arriale takes the stage at 8. The Arts Garage is at 180 NE First St., Delray Beach.
