Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project Beach Cleanup After Party

You've heard of the North Atlantic Garbage Patch? It's essentially a miles-wide swath of plastic crap swirling in the Atlantic Ocean gyre, possibly for eternity. Depressing, right? Today's Barefoot Wine Beach Rescue Project cleanup at Carlin Beach aims to beautify the sands, but it also helps to keep at least some junk out of the oceans. The project, in partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, is in its sixth year, and today's cleanup is one of 25 staged across the country. Volunteers will clock a few hours of bagging trash on the beach and then head to Duffy's Sports Grill in North Palm Beach for a wrap-up party complete with beachy snacks plus wine and bubbly from Barefoot Wine. The beach cleanup is from 3 to 5 p.m., and the post-cleanup party is from 6 to 8. There's no cost to participate, but volunteers must be 21 or older and RSVP to nfishgold@hunterpr.com. Carlin Park is located at 400 N. Ocean Blvd. in Jupiter. Duffy's Sports Grill is located at 11588 U.S. Highway 1 in North Palm Beach. Call 212-679-6600, or visit beachrescue2012.com.
