There are certain acts who will always be hometown favorites. Despite their global reach, international marketing appeal, and success outside the tricounty area, those select few scream South Florida. Gloria Estefan isn't a worldwide superstar; she's a distant relative we love deeply but rarely spend time with. Same thing with Pitbull, Jon Secada, and Willy Chirino. As far as we're concerned, they're local acts. People outside Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties might know who they are, but we know who they are. Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias, however, are different. J.Lo was born in the Bronx and began her career beyond our county lines. It was only after the former In Living Color Fly Girl became a household name that she moved south to Miami. Similarly, Enrique Iglesias was born abroad but has spent the better part of his life living and working in Miami. These two have sort of gotten stuck as not quite one of us, but they should be. And at this point, we'd like to announce our adoption of J.Lo and Enrique to our musical familia. They're now our cousins, just like Willy, Jon, and Pit.
