For many Americans, it's all too easy to forget that we are in a war. While previous generations strove to keep the war effort first and foremost in everyone's minds, these days, we soldier on with work and shopping and school and going out to dinner or the movies. Our politicians tell us that the best thing we can do is go about our daily lives; otherwise the other side "wins." But for the soldiers who return with wounds both seen and unseen and for the families who love and support them, our "soldiering on" can seem a lot like ignoring their sacrifice. But there are those who take notice and work to do what they can to help our soldiers and veterans. Filmmaker Carlos Londono lost a childhood friend in 2008 to fighting in Iraq, and his short film All Wars End is a peek into the lives of soldiers who do make it back from conflict. It will be premiering at Cinema Paradiso on September 11 to benefit Wounded Warriors of South Florida. At 7 p.m., there will be a reception with the cast, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, raffles, and a silent art auction. The film will begin at 8 p.m. after a military color guard presents the flag and a performance of the national anthem. Admission is $25.
