From Ass-Waxing to Literacy Fundraisers

We Floridians know Bert Kreischer well -- firstly from a 1997 Rolling Stone article that proclaimed Kreischer, who spent six and a half years at FSU, as "the top partier" at "the top party school in the U.S." Others in such a position might slide into a degenerate adult life of asinine YouTube stunts, and Kreischer did the same, except he got paid for it, on post-Jackass shows like Hurt Bert and Bert the Conqueror. A standup comedy career was inevitable but earned, with Kreischer's politically incorrect observations catapulting his hourlong special Comfortably Dumb to one of the Comedy Central's best. He'll be at the Hollywood Improv located at 5700 Seminole Way in Hollywood all weekend, including a special Laughs for Literacy fundraiser beginning at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The $100 admission features a VIP reception with former Miami Dolphins linebacker Twan Russell at the Swamp in Seminole Paradise, and the fun continues with drinks, dinner, and the comedy show at 7 p.m. in the Improv. The fundraiser will benefit the Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation. For the show only, tickets for Thursday to Saturday cost $20. Call 954-981-5653, or visit improvftl.com.
