Acting isn't just something people with daddy issues do for millions of dollars. It's something they also do so their political statements have more meaning (I'm looking at you, Ben Affleck). But acting is more than being into not eating or paying five grand for a burlap-sack purse that looks like it cost five dollars; it's one of the oldest art forms and media for expression. It can also be a confidence booster and help with public speaking -- two things that can be really important in the workplace. For example, if you're in a meeting and your boss asks you a question, it's good to be able to answer coherently and not as though you're doing your best George W. Bush impression. The Actors Workshop of South Florida, located at 269 Goolsby Blvd. in Deerfield Beach, is celebrating its 11th year helping students tap into their creative side. It is beginning its eight-week introductory program for beginning adult actors. The class runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and costs $160 for the entire eight weeks.
