A greyhound is the only dog you can convincingly dress up as an AT-AT from Star Wars. Not only that but they are second-fastest animal on Earth, following the cheetah. And cheetah’s are such bastards about it, aren’t they? All right, maybe not, but did Al Capone, Betty White, or Leonard Nemoy own a cheetah? Nope. They owned greyhounds, one of the most loving and loyal animals out there. Which is why Hollydogs, a nonprofit that since 1995 has helped rescue greyhounds from being destroyed, is having a fundraiser. Barefoot on the Beach is a one-mile roundtrip walk starting at the Hollywood Beach Culture & Community Center, located at 1301 South Ocean Drive in Hollywood Beach. Anyone can take part for free — of course donations are greatly welcomed. Some people are even getting sponsored for their walk, with all the money going toward Hollydogs. There will be games, contests, prizes, a silent auction, and complimentary vegan snacks.
