Deep-Fried-Twinkie Time

If life in the concrete jungle has you itching for a close encounter with creatures that don't yet know how to operate a car horn, hit the road for the Broward County Fair, which kicks off Thursday afternoon in Pembroke Pines. The revamped fair includes familiar attractions like carnival rides, deep-fried everything, and classic 4-H competitions, but it's also host to a few exotic guests, like the Bengal Tiger Experience and a slew of adorable marsupials in the traveling Australian Animal Show. The Broward County Fair is open from 4 to 11 p.m. Thursday, 4 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday, and noon to 11 p.m. Sunday. The fair continues from 4 to 11 p.m. Monday, November 19, through Thursday, November 22; noon to midnight Friday, November 23, and Saturday, November 24, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, November 25. The fair sets up at City Center, 10300 Pines Blvd. in Pembroke Pines. Admission costs $40 per carload of attendees this Thursday. Admission Friday through November 25 costs $8 for adults, $4 for children, and $120 for a family four-pack, including ride wristbands. Call 954-922-2224, or visit browardfair.org.
