If FPL rate increases and/or a Scrooge of a next-door neighbor have put the kibosh on your Clark Griswold aspirations, you'll need to get your over-the-top twinkle-light fix elsewhere. Instead of making the hike down to Santa's Enchanted Forest, consider a journey through the Garden of Lights, which winds down this weekend. Flamingo Gardens is awash in holiday cheer, with the botanical gardens and historic Wray Home adorned in thousands of lights and the grounds enlivened by holiday music. Santa will make an appearance, and a light show set to music goes on every half-hour.
Garden of Lights is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday in Flamingo Gardens, 3750 S. Flamingo Road, Davie. The light show is included in the cost of regular daytime admission ($10 to $18). Or arrive after 5 p.m. and pay $5 per person to view the light show only; it's free for garden members and kids ages 3 and younger. Call 954-473-2955, or visit flamingogardens.org.
