You love the holidays, but you're just not into the old guy in the red suit. Or maybe you like Santa fine, but you prefer comic books to a re-reading of " 'Twas the Night Before Christmas." Luckily for you, Tate's Comics (4566 N. University Drive, Lauderhill) is here to rescue you from your pedestrian Christmas traditions. Throughout December, the shop is hosting photo ops with substitute Santas. This Saturday, share a seat with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Raphael from 1 to 3 p.m., and on Sunday, snuggle up to everyone's favorite knight of the dark side, Darth Vader, from 1 to 3 p.m. Meeting and getting a photo taken with a stand-in Santa is free. You can use your own camera, or Tate's will snap a picture for you to download from its Facebook page. Or for $3, get your photo in a fun commemorative frame.
