If you want to hang ten with the big dogs, you’ve got to be willing to dip your toes in shark-infested waters. The three South African pro surfers at the center of the documentary Surfing and Sharks know a thing or two about navigating dangerous turf. The 55-minute film tells their story while exploring the turbulent waters of South Africa’s Wild Coast, home to some of the world’s best surfing conditions and a shitload of sharks. Filmmakers interweave the surfer’s stories with testimony from noted shark experts to uncover the realities of sharing waves with nature’s most feared and misunderstood creatures. Surfing and Sharks will screen at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Horvitz Auditorium at the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale, located at 1 E. Las Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale.
